To the Editor:
As a real estate professional who works with both buyers and sellers in Piedmont, I recognize that increasing the real estate transfer tax will affect transaction costs for both parties. This is not a cost to dismiss lightly. However, I believe we must also consider the long-term financial health of the community we call home.
The June 2026 report from Piedmont’s Budget Advisory and Financial Planning Committee warns that the City’s Facilities Capital Fund is projected to be essentially depleted after fiscal year 2027–28, while aging buildings, roads, sidewalks, and storm drains require significant investment.
Measure GG offers a responsible way to help address these needs and preserve the public services and infrastructure that make Piedmont such a desirable place to live. Deferring necessary maintenance risks making repairs more expensive in the future.
As residents, we have a responsibility to plan ahead and preserve our community’s quality for future generations. I believe the long-term benefits of Measure GG outweigh the additional real estate transaction costs.
I urge Piedmont voters to vote YES on Measure GG. I have financially contributed to the campaign to pass Measure GG.
Sincerely,
–Pamela Fullerton, Realtor
